Book a massage with Abigail

Founder and director, Abigail McClam’s life experiences have served as guiding influences in the creation of the Oné Respé Wellness Center.

Abigail was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina. She received her bachelor’s degree from Elon University in Human Services and Public Administration. Although she found Human Service’s social work and counseling endlessly interesting, she felt passionate about health, wellness, and alternative medicine.

Shortly after graduation, Abigail attended the COMPTA-accredited Center for Massage and Natural Health and Bodywork in Asheville, NC in 2008. There, she learned the healing art of massage therapy and bodywork.

Abigail’s passion for alternative medicine and integrative care came from her battle with chronic pain. As a child, she experienced multiple surgeries to repair damage to her hip caused by an infection contracted shortly after birth. As a result, she dealt with many years of complex surgeries to help repair the damage. Consequently, during most of her young adult life in high school and in college, she struggled with chronic pain. Abigail eventually found her relief through integrative medicine – massage therapy, acupuncture, and Western medication.

Today, Abigail is able to manage her pain with yoga, exercise, acupuncture, and massage therapy. She has learned about her body, pain, and adaptation at a very early age. By understanding the distinct reality of pain, Abigail has developed a unique sense of compassion for others, which she shares through her talents as a massage therapist.
